“Elon Musk is currently under federal investigation for his conduct in connection with the Twitter acquisition,” the company said in a statement.

According to the agency, Twitter representatives for several months demanded that Musk’s lawyers provide them with his correspondence with the federal authorities, but the messages were never submitted. Then the company decided to request documents through the court. After that, the billionaire’s lawyers provided a “privilege journal” with a list of documents that should not be made public.

A Delaware court has given Elon Musk the opportunity to close the deal to buy Twitter by October 28.
