Elon Musk will build an entire airport for his own needs

Elon Musk plans to build his own airport outside of Austin, Texas so that he and his top executives have easy access to Tesla and Boring Company facilities.

Two Musk companies, including Tesla (Giga Texas) and Boring Company, are based in Austin. Musk himself also lives in Texas, after he sold his “terrestrial real estate” and changed state of residence, because “California imagines too much of itself.”

Musk, who is known for his rather austere lifestyle – he doesn’t even own his own house now – can’t refuse a private jet, because the only way he said he can be in time wherever required. He owns a 2015 Gulfstream G650 but has already ordered a new jet for delivery next year.

No details about the new airport have yet been disclosed, and its construction requires permission from local authorities, the approval of the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration.

Giga Texas buildings occupy 2,500 acres along the Colorado River in southeast Travis County and are officially the headquarters of Tesla, and its headquarters have also moved to Pflugerville, an Austin suburb located in Travis County.

The Boring Company is about three miles from the Austin airport, but Musk says it’s too far and inconvenient.

Elon Musk has been trying to ramp up production in the face of a plethora of challenges, mostly supply chain chaos and the impact of inflation on the raw materials that make electric cars, so he’s likely driven to and from Austin more often.

“This factory is losing crazy money right now. Factories in Texas are now giant money ovens. See? I can literally hear the roar, the sound of burning money,” Musk told Silicon Valley Tesla Owners Club members.

However, Musk’s use of a private jet has long been criticized for polluting the environment. But the main contaminant turned out to be singer Taylor Swift. Since January, her private jet has made 170 flights.

Other celebrities on the top 10 anti-pollutant list include Jay Z, director Steven Spielberg, Kim Kardashian, Mark Wahlberg, and Oprah Winfrey. And Musk didn’t even make the top ten.
