Lucid Gravity: A Game-Changing SUV with 450-Mile Range and Bold Ambitions

Lucid Motors has officially unveiled its first Gravity SUV, which rolled off the production line just last week. Now, the vehicle has an impressive EPA-estimated range of 450 miles, slightly exceeding the earlier projection of 440 miles shared ahead of its launch.

The Gravity SUV starts at $94,900, with a more affordable version priced at $79,900 slated for production in late 2025.

Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson took to LinkedIn to highlight the Gravity’s blend of sports car performance, luxurious comfort, and eco-friendly design, emphasizing its ability to achieve 450 miles of range while consuming significantly fewer resources compared to some competitors.

Known for pushing the boundaries of engineering, Lucid has already set high standards with its Air sedan, which boasts a top range of 512 miles per charge, according to EPA estimates. In comparison, Tesla’s longest-range EV, the Model S sedan, offers up to 402 miles, while its Model X SUV maxes out at 329 miles. The Gravity enters this competitive field with a clear advantage in range and efficiency.

However, Lucid has faced challenges in turning its technological breakthroughs into widespread commercial success. While the company originally aimed to produce and sell around 90,000 Air sedans by now, it is projected to close 2024 with sales closer to 10% of that target. With SUVs dominating the North American market, the Gravity represents a crucial opportunity for Lucid to capture more attention and reshape its trajectory.
