M&M’s to temporarily ditch talking candy ads over appearance controversy
M&M’s’ official Twitter account announced the indefinite ban on talking candy.
“Brand representatives noted that they made the decision against the backdrop of controversy on the Internet, which began after changes in the appearance and character of popular heroes.
Last year we made some changes to our favorite “talking candies”. We weren’t sure if anyone would even notice. And we certainly didn’t think it would “blow up” the internet. But now we understand – even sweetie shoes can be divisive. That’s the last thing M&M’s wants, because we’re always looking to bring people together.”
Maya Rudolph will represent M&M’s for some time. The first advertisement with it should be released in February 2023 as part of the Super Bowl.
