Big Ambitions: Oleksandr Usyk Sets His Sights on the Presidency After His Career

Legendary Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, whose name is already etched into the history of global sport, has shared his vision for life after his professional career. According to the champion, his next chapter will be just as ambitious as his time in the ring: Usyk is considering a run for the highest office in the country.

Only Big Goals

In an interview on Andriy Biedniakov’s YouTube channel, the athlete made it clear that he has no interest in pursuing local political roles. When the host jokingly suggested that he could become the mayor of Konotop, Usyk responded with characteristic confidence:

“I’m not planning to go anywhere below the presidency,” Oleksandr emphasized.

The boxer says he plans to remain active in the professional ring for several more years before dedicating himself to serving the country. His political ambitions mirror the mindset that defined his career as an undisputed champion: aiming for the very top and pursuing the strongest possible result.

A Final Chapter in Sport

Usyk also described what he considers the ideal way to close his boxing career. According to him, it will not be a simple social media announcement—the champion envisions an event of much greater scale.

An invitation to the world’s media. Usyk would like to gather leading journalists from the United Kingdom and the United States in Ukraine—reporters who have followed and covered his career for years.

Words of gratitude. The boxer plans to personally thank members of the media for their support and professionalism throughout his journey.

A new role. During this gathering, he intends to officially announce his retirement from professional boxing while emphasizing that the sport will remain a permanent part of his life.

For Usyk, the end of his career is not a conclusion but a transition to a new stage. After stepping away from the ring, he plans to remain in boxing as a mentor and influential figure while also pursuing his political ambitions.
