“Justice wins”: the court acquitted Nobel laureate Maria Ressa

The Philippine Tax Court of Appeals has acquitted Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa and her publication Rappler in a tax evasion case. The publication itself reports this. The prosecution was brought in 2018 by the government of Rodrigo Duterte – Ressa pleaded not guilty, calling the case political.

“We have proven that Rappler is not a tax evader. Today, facts win, truth wins, justice wins, ”Ressa commented on the court decision.
