UN: World’s population will exceed 8 billion by 2023
According to experts, India will take the title of the most populous country in the world from China. It is projected to reach a population of 1.668 billion by 2050.
According to a new report from the United Nations (UN), by 2023, India will take the place of the world’s most populous country from China.
The report predicts that November 15, 2022 will be the day the world population reaches 8 billion. However, it also highlights that humanity’s population boom is waning and the world’s population is currently growing at the slowest rate since the 1950s.
Expert forecasts suggest that in 2030 the world population could grow to about 8.5 billion, in 2050 to 9.7 billion, and in 2100 to 10.4 billion.
More than half of projected population growth by 2050 will be concentrated in 8 countries: the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines and Tanzania.
