SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS INVESTMENT REACHED A RECORD LEVEL IN THE LAST YEAR

Samsung Electronics’ investment hit a record high last year with an investment of 53 trillion South Korean won ($40.2 billion). More than 90% of investments were directed to the semiconductor industry. Investment in 2022 is up 10.1% from 48.2 trillion KRW invested a year earlier. The bulk of the investment, or 36.2 billion South Korean won, was aimed at expanding the production of semiconductors, of which 18.76 trillion won were invested in the fourth quarter of last year alone. The company also invests in the development of the so-called future growth drivers, its costs for research and development in the past year amounted to. 24.9 trillion won ($18.9 billion), up 10.3% from spending in 2021.
